Website Redesign for NZ Tradies

A website redesign for NZ tradies should start with the site you already have. We first check what still helps. We also check what now gets in the way.

The current site may have good photos or useful pages. It may have service details or reviews worth keeping. Other parts may be old, hard to use, or no longer fit the business.

We review those parts before we plan the new site. Good material does not need to be lost.

If the site is sound, a full rebuild may not be needed. It may only need agreed search or content work. In that case, Get Found for NZ Tradies may fit better.

Signs a website rebuild may make sense

A rebuild can help when the problems affect more than one small part.

Common signs include:

  • The site no longer reflects the business
  • Important services are missing or hard to find
  • The layout is awkward on phones or tablets
  • The menu has become confusing
  • Contact or quote paths are hard to use
  • Useful details sit across weak or old pages
  • Normal site changes have become difficult
  • The business has outgrown the old page structure

One problem does not always mean a full rebuild is needed.

We can review whether the main issue is design, structure, content, or a mix. The scope should match the real problem.

Not every older website needs replacing

Age alone is not a reason to replace a site.

A site may still have a sound layout and useful pages. It may just need clearer content. It may need new service pages or agreed search work.

Some sites only need a smaller change. Others have wider problems. Repeated patching may no longer make sense.

We separate those cases before paid work starts.

If the design and structure are still sound, see Get Found for NZ Tradies. That service covers optional search and content work.

We review what is worth keeping first

The old site is part of the rebuild brief.

Before we replace it, we can review:

  • Useful page copy
  • Real project photos
  • Genuine reviews you can support
  • Logo and approved brand material
  • Correct service details
  • Current contact details
  • Pages that still have a clear job
  • Existing URLs that need to be considered

Good material can stay when it still fits.

Old, copied, weak, or wrong material can be left behind. The aim is simple. Keep what helps the business. Replace what does not.

For the normal build items, see What You Get.

What can change in the rebuilt website

A redesign can change more than colours and fonts.

The agreed rebuild may improve:

  • Homepage structure
  • Mobile layout
  • Navigation
  • Service-page organisation
  • Service-area information
  • Contact and quote paths
  • Forms and key links
  • The way photos and proof are shown
  • Page titles, descriptions, headings, and internal links
  • Search setup included in the agreed build

The exact work depends on the current site. It also depends on the agreed package and scope.

We do not add pages just to make the site look larger. Each new page should have a clear job.

For current build sizes and starting ranges, see Website Packages.

Existing URLs need a plan

A redesign can change page names and site structure. Old URLs should not be ignored.

We review useful current pages before the new structure is final.

An important URL may be able to stay the same. That avoids a change that is not needed.

Some URLs may need to change. We can map each useful old URL to the best new page. A permanent redirect can then be used when it makes sense.

We also update internal links for the final page addresses. The sitemap should use those final URLs.

Search visibility can move after a rebuild. Search engines may need time to recrawl the site. We do not promise that rankings will stay the same or improve.

The current site can usually stay live

The new site does not normally take over the live domain on day one.

We can prepare the new direction away from the live site. The current website can stay available while you review the replacement.

You approve the agreed pages before the switch. The domain is connected at the launch stage.

Business email is separate from the website build. It is not changed by default.

Some domain or hosting setups need extra care. We confirm that before launch.

For the full review, build, and handover steps, see How It Works.

The free preview is still the first decision point

Having an old site does not remove the preview step.

The working homepage preview gives you a new direction to assess. You see it before the wider rebuild is agreed.

You can compare it with the current site. Check the service message. Check the layout and main contact path too.

If the direction works, we confirm the page scope. The fixed quote is confirmed at that point. Paid work starts after that agreement.

If you do not continue, the old site does not need to change.

See Free Website Preview for that first stage.

Website upgrade pricing depends on the scope

The current site affects how much work is needed.

Common scope factors include:

  • The number of pages to rebuild
  • How much useful content can be reused
  • Whether old URLs need redirect mapping
  • Forms or integrations that need replacing
  • New service or area pages that are justified
  • Supplied material that needs sorting
  • Extra launch work caused by the old setup

We confirm the fixed build quote after the review. The page scope must also be agreed.

The Website Packages page shows current starting ranges for standard builds. Some rebuilds need a different scope. Their final quote may sit outside those ranges.

Standard hosting and SSL are part of the current build offer. Domain registration and business email are separate costs unless the quote says otherwise.

A rebuild does not include every growth service

A website rebuild is not the same as ongoing marketing work.

The rebuild can cover the agreed site, pages, forms, and search setup. It does not add every future service.

Ongoing articles are separate. Monthly search work is separate. Paid ads are separate too.

Google Business Profile work is also separate unless another approved scope includes it.

This keeps the rebuild focused on replacing the website itself.
